Sanctuary Ponds, Wongawilli Stages 1 to 3

Project Summary:

Menai Civil delivered a multi-stage residential subdivision comprising 214 residential lots across three stages, with Stage 3 completed over a 12-month period. The works included bulk earthworks, road and pavement construction, stormwater drainage, utility reticulation, shared paths, retaining walls and extensive landscaping across the development.

A key component of the project was the implementation of a Remediation Action Plan to address coal-wash and asbestos-impacted soils. The works required careful management of contaminated materials and stringent surface water controls to protect the surrounding environment, including adjacent dams and more than 15,000 m² of riparian corridor planting. The project also included the installation of pedestrian bridges to improve connectivity throughout the development.

Scope of Works:

Approximately 54,250 m³ of bulk earthworks.
Implementation of a Remediation Action Plan across the development.
Remediation and removal of soils impacted by coal wash and asbestos contamination.
Construction of approximately 26,600 m² of flexible pavement, including sub-base, base, spray seal and asphalt.
Construction of more than 9,500 m² of concrete shared paths and kerbs.
Installation of more than 3,100 m of reinforced concrete stormwater drainage.
Installation of sewer, potable water, electrical and NBN service reticulation.
Construction of retaining walls and pedestrian bridges.
Installation of signage and line marking.
Traffic management and control throughout construction.
Landscaping and streetscape works, including more than 15,000 m² of riparian corridor planting.
