Byron Road, Leppington

Project Summary:

Menai Civil delivered essential infrastructure upgrades along Byron Road in Leppington, extending from Ingleburn Road to the intersection of Byron Road and Heath Road. Spanning over one kilometre, the project involved the relocation and installation of critical services including communications, electrical, water and gas infrastructure, alongside significant drainage and roadworks.

The works included the construction of reinforced concrete culverts, complex stormwater systems and multi-stage pavement reconstruction, delivered within a live traffic environment. Careful staging and traffic management enabled the project to be completed while minimising road closures and disruption to the surrounding community.

Scope of Works:

  • Relocation and installation of essential services including communications, electrical, water and gas infrastructure.

  • Construction of reinforced concrete box culverts and associated stormwater drainage systems.

  • Subgrade rectification and multi-stage pavement reconstruction to upgrade the existing road corridor.

Service Installation, Relocation & Decomissioning

  • Installation of a new water main, including decommissioning and relocation of existing infrastructure.

  • Gas main relocation works and integration with existing networks.

  • Installation and relocation of telecommunications ducts and fibre optic cabling.

  • Installation of new street lighting and substation infrastructure, including undergrounding of existing overhead services.

Drainage and Culvert Installation

  • Fabrication and installation of headwalls and wingwalls, and placement of reinforced concrete box culverts.

  • Installation of stormwater pipework, subsoil drainage and in-situ stormwater pits.

  • Implementation of temporary water diversion and dewatering systems to facilitate construction.

Road Works

  • Completion of subgrade rectification and staged pavement upgrades across the corridor.

  • Road realignment works including kerb demolition, new kerb installation, dish drains, wombat crossings and lintels.

  • Construction of multiple pavement types, ensuring seamless integration with the existing road network.
