IKEA Multi-Function Logistics Unit

Project Summary:

Menai Civil was engaged to deliver the civil works for the IKEA National Distribution Centre in Marsden Park, awarded by Lendlease Engineering as part of an ongoing client relationship. The project involved the development of infrastructure to support a major industrial facility, including an elevated warehouse measuring approximately 180 metres wide, 390 metres long, and reaching a high-bay height of 35 metres.

The works encompassed large-scale earthworks, stormwater infrastructure, pavement construction and site-wide civil works to support the operation of the facility. Delivered within a complex industrial environment, the project established the critical infrastructure required for one of IKEA’s key logistics and distribution assets in Australia.

Scope of Works:

  • Site establishment including clearing, topsoil stripping, stockpiling and replacement across the development area.

  • Installation of 1,900m of stormwater drainage, including pits and pipework.

  • Construction of 45,000m² of flexible pavement, including sub-base, base course, spray seal and asphalt surfacing.

  • Placement of approximately 70,000m² of base material for the building platform.

  • Installation of kerb and gutter, and concrete footpaths throughout the site.

  • Construction of a detention basin to support stormwater management requirements.
