Scope

The Claymore Renewal Project is part of the NSW state government’s plan to redevelop existing public housing estates into a mixed community of private and social housing. 

Menai Civil was engaged by UrbanGrowth NSW to undertake civil works for the first four stages of the urban renewal project.

Services

The scope of works for this project included the following.

  • Site clearing, topsoil stripping, stockpiling and replacement.

  •  Remediation of contaminated site areas involving the removal of asbestos (emu-picking) and chemical-affected soils.

  • Removal of existing services including redundant stormwater, electrical, 
    sewer and water.

  • Removal of redundant footpaths, retaining walls and fencing.

  •  136,000m3 of bulk earthworks.

  • Services reticulation including electrical, lighting, gas, communications, sewer and water.

  • 4,700m of stormwater pit and pipe installation works.

  • 23,000m2 of flexible pavement works including sub-base, base course, spray seal and asphalt.

  • Concrib and masonry retaining wall construction.

  • Kerb and gutters, concrete footpaths, medians and islands.

  • Upgrading of an existing intersection in conjunction with the construction of new subdivision roads.

  • Landscaping including development of a new community reserve.
