Colo Heights Bridge, Upper Colo

Project Summary:

Menai Civil was engaged by Hawkesbury City Council to reconstruct the ageing Upper Colo Bridge at Colo Heights, replacing the existing damaged structure with a stronger and more durable crossing for the local community. The original timber bridge, recognised as a heritage item, was carefully deconstructed, with salvaged timber elements repurposed into street furniture and public artworks to preserve the bridge’s historical value in a meaningful and lasting way.

Delivered within a flood-prone riverbank environment, the project required careful planning, temporary works, environmental controls and ongoing adaptation to severe weather events. Despite repeated flooding impacts throughout construction, Menai Civil successfully delivered the bridgeworks contract, completing the new bridge structure, approach roads and associated civil works to restore safe and reliable access for the Upper Colo community.
